Blue Lace

Here is a new abstract of mine painted in watercolor on Yupo (synthetic paper). This paper was originally used in the printing industry. It is slick and non-absorbent, the paint literally sits on the surface . You need to be patient and careful or all of your hard work will simply lift off when you apply more layers. I tried this several years ago and didn't care for it. I have painted several abstract or semi-abstract paintings with it and find that I really love it, at least at the present time.

Web Site Issues

A couple of weeks ago, I was notified by my web host that my site had been potentially targeted by hackers. I needed to replace the existing information, so I decided to do a completely new site. What a job! It is still in progress and probably will be for another month. There are a couple of pages there now and I will be adding them as they are ready. http://lauragibbs-studio.com/

As you have probably noticed, my work is becoming more and more abstract. The painting on the right is the largest painting I have worked on. It is 30x60, acrylic with gold and silver leaf on canvas. It was so much fun, the gold and silver are kind of embedded just in a few areas, so that they kind of peek out. I was intimidated initially, but pleased with the finished work. I will be working larger in the future though probably not this large.
The name of this painting is Muse.

Prints and cards will be available on my Fine Art America page http://fineartamerica.com/art/all/laura+gibbs/all
